Our Summer 2026 play is Sue Townsend’s comedy-drama Bazaar And Rummage. First performed in 1982, the play is set in a church hall where a group of women attempt to hold a charity bazaar and rummage sale. The event is meant to help them reintegrate into society, but as the day unfolds, their personal stories, frustrations, and hidden insecurities emerge. Through sharp humour and pathos, Townsend explores themes of isolation, self-worth, and the quiet resilience of ordinary women. The play’s small cast and single setting highlight its focus on character and dialogue, blending social commentary with warm, often bittersweet comedy.
We are looking for FOUR strong female actors to be involved in this play - two of the characters (Fliss and Margaret) have already been cast.
The production will run from 15th-18th July 2026 at The Commemoration Hall with rehearsals every Mon/Wed beginning in late April or early May.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday 25th of March at 7.30pm at the WI Hall, 6a Walden Road, Huntingdon PE29 3AZ. To find out more and to register your interest in auditioning please email the director Steve at
