Please SAVE THE DATE and plan to join me SEPTEMBER 23 when Waterbean Poetry Night welcomes back fan favorite, RICHARD ALLEN TAYLOR, as featured poet, this time reading from his new collection, GEOGRAPHY OF ONE.

BIO:
Richard Allen Taylor is the author of five poetry collections including, most recently, Geography of One, published by Main Street Rag in 2026. His poems, articles, and reviews have appeared in many publications including Aeolian Harp, Litmosphere, Tar River Poetry, Rattle, and Sheila-Na-Gig. Winner of the Passionfruit Poetry Prize 2025, Taylor is a multiple Pushcart Prize nominee, former review editor for The Main Street Rag, and a founding co-editor emeritus of Kakalak Anthology of Poetry and Art. Taylor earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte. He currently resides in Greer, SC.

We'll begin at 7:00 sharp & have a hard stop at 8:50 (venue closes at 9:00).

Following the featured program & a 15-minute break for Richard's book sales/signings, stick around to enjoy the OPEN MIC. Kindly support the venue & baristas, & the featured poet if you can.


OPEN MIC GUIDELINES:

Arrive by 6:30–6:45 to sign up in person. Spots are limited & go quickly. No holds.

Each open mic reader has (at host’s discretion) up to five (5) minutes on stage to share (read or recite) 1–2 one-page poems. Please keep intro/comments brief in the interest of time.

If you sign up to read, please stay to hear your fellow poets read. We build community through mutual support.

This in-person event is FREE & open to the public, part of Waterbean Poetry's monthly reading series that offers an INCLUSIVE, SAFE SPACE for all poets & friends of poetry. Bring a poem or two, a friend or three!
