- **Event Name**: Color Theory in Interpretation
- **Event Start and End Date**: Tue, 02 Jun, 2026 at 01:00 pm
- **Event Description**: The Color Theory in Interpretation presentation introduces guests to how color influences attention, emotion, and understanding in nature based communication. Through examples from field guides, signage, and wildlife illustration, participants learn how interpreters use color to highlight key features, guide the eye, and support accurate observation in the field. The following day’s Nature Journaling Hike gives guests the opportunity to apply these concepts outdoors. Participants practice using color intentionally in their sketches and notes, strengthening observation skills and deepening their connection to the landscape. Together, these programs build visual literacy, support creative engagement, and enhance guests’ ability to interpret the natural world with confidence.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own supplies (sketchpad, color pencils, etc.)

This event celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Oklahoma State Park Naturalist Program and help guests step into the role of an interpreter.
