The Kamberg Trout Festival is one of South Africa’s best-known fly-fishing events, held annually in the scenic Kamberg Valley in KwaZulu-Natal (Drakensberg area).

🎣 What it is :
- A team-based fly-fishing festival hosted on private dams in the Kamberg area
- Considered Africa’s oldest and one of the largest fly-fishing Festival (side note : this year it will be 29 years of the KTF)
- Attracts anglers from across the country for both competitive fishing and social gatherings

📍 Location : 
- Kamberg Valley,  Natal Midlands / near Mooi River in KZN
- Known for excellent trout waters and beautiful mountain scenery

📅 Date :
 - 4–6 June 2026

💰 Entry Cost :
 - R14 000 per team (R3 500 per angler)

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Format & Activities :
- Teams of 4 anglers fish across different dams
- Multiple fishing sessions over 2 days 
- Includes:
- A welcome pack with some well thought of goodies
- Catch-and-measure scoring
- Prize-giving event
- Social evenings , dinners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night    (this is included in the entry fee)
- Strong emphasis on community, conservation, and camaraderie

🎉 Atmosphere :
- Not just about fishing -  it’s a social weekend getaway
- Evenings involve: Storytelling, food, and drinks, networking with fellow anglers. Many participants return yearly as a tradition.

💡 Good to know :
- Some proceeds go toward local community upliftment projects
