- **Event Description**: Bring a little piece of your garden into the studio for this unique clay handbuilding class!

On August 20th from 6–8pm, you’ll use real leaves to create beautiful, nature-inspired stoneware dishes. If you have access to a pumpkin patch, bring your favorite pumpkin leaves from home! Leaves should be no larger than 12 inches in their longest direction. Large fall maple leaves are welcome, too. Don’t have your own pumpkin patch? No problem! A local grower has generously allowed us to use leaves from their pumpkin patch, and we’ll have plenty available in the studio for you to choose from.

Each participant will receive approximately 2 lbs of clay to create:

One larger leaf dish up to 12″, or
Up to three smaller leaf dishes
The available forms are oval plates, which we’ll use to give your clay a gentle curve and help create a stronger finished piece. We do not recommend making pieces completely flat, as flat slabs are more prone to cracking during drying and firing.

What happens after class?
Your pieces will remain at the studio to dry completely and receive their bisque firing. In approximately 10 days, they’ll be ready for you to return and glaze.

You can come back to glaze your pieces anytime during our regular open studio hours — no additional class or appointment is needed. After glazing, we’ll fire your pieces one final time and let you know when they’re ready for pickup.

What to bring: If you have them, bring fresh pumpkin or large maple leaves from home. Please keep leaves to 12″ or smaller in their longest direction. We’ll also have pumpkin leaves available in the studio from a generous local grower.

We anticipate this workshop will take 90 min to 2 hours.

This workshop is designed for age 16 and over, all experience levels welcome. Teens age 13-16 may also purchase a seat if attending with a paid adult.
