What to Wear: The Beacon has been, and will remain a safe haven for our clients and volunteers. Please help us keep it that way. When volunteering at The Beacon, we request that all of our volunteers dress in modest attire. We ask that all volunteers wear pants, closed-toed shoes, and non-revealing clothing. An example of this would be athletic shoes, jeans and a t-shirt. Because we work around industrial equipment, please refrain from wearing “short” shorts, tank tops, flip flops, and any other article of clothing that may be considered a work/health hazard.
Parking: Parking is FREE to Beacon volunteers on the day of their volunteer shift. Please park in the Episcopal Diocese’s parking garage located at Christ Church Cathedral Garage
559 San Jacinto Street Houston, TX 77002
Parking validation will be provided for you at the end of your shift. See the attached driving directions for a more detailed description of how to get to our facility.
Where to Go Once You Get There: Please enter our facility through the Beacon Volunteer Entrance. The entrance is located on the backside of our building and faces Texas Avenue. There will be sign directing you to this door as you exit the parking garage. If you use the stairs or elevator on the southwest side of the building, this will be to your left when you exit the gate. If the door is locked, ring the bell and someone should be there shortly to open the door for you! Do NOT enter the building through the Prairie St entrance.
