Experience history in the making at the 2026 MLK Unity Parade in Downtown Houston. For the first time in over 30 years, the City of Houston, the Black Heritage Society, and the MLK Grande Parade have joined forces to host a single, unified celebration.

Under the theme "Embracing the Oneness of Humanity," this landmark event honors the life and enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a spectacular display of culture, music, and community spirit.

• Free METRO Rides: In honor of MLK Day, METRO is offering complimentary rides on all local buses and Light Rail lines (Red, Green, and Purple) to and from the parade.
• Parking: If you choose to drive, public parking garages and surface lots are available throughout Downtown, but be mindful of street closures starting as early as 7:00 AM.
• Street Closures: Expect closures on San Jacinto, Smith, Bagby, and Louisiana Streets throughout the morning.
