- **Event Description**: Let’s gather with kindred spirits in a wonderful place for playing in nature together! Hot Springs, NC is a beautiful setting for exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah National Forest. We will meet up for connection (hiking), adventure (whitewater rafting), and fun (dancing). The town of Hot Springs is located 36 miles (45 minutes) northwest of Asheville, where the Appalachian Trail crosses the French Broad River and is home to the only natural hot mineral springs in the state. ​*No rafting, dance or trail experience needed.*

When: Saturday, July 18th and/or Sunday, July 19th (choose your own 1-2-day adventure)

Who: Open to Friends & Family of Contra Dancers
 
Cost: All activities are optional- so choose your own adventure! $75-85 guided whitewater rafting trip; $10 contra dance; $20 hot springs mineral soak
 
Where: Please arrange your own lodging for when/if you plan to spend the night. There are many options in the area, including B&Bs, cabins and campgrounds with RV/tent sites.
 
Adventure Itinerary
Whitewater Rafting- at NOC French Broad Outpost (9825 Hwy 25/70, Marshall, NC 28753) ages 8+
French Broad Rafting: Half-Day (with Lunch)- Sat. 7/18 at 9:00am ($85) most adventurers OR
French Broad Rafting (no Lunch)- Sat. 7/18 at 2:00pm ($75) for day trippers.

Contra Dancing- meet at Pine Hall (64 S. Spring St., Hot Springs, NC 28742) on Sat. 7/18 at 7pm, contra dance to live music ($10)- includes lesson and dance (7:30-10:30 pm). Caller- Dean Snipes
 
Mineral Soak- meet at Hot Springs Resort and Spa (315 Bridge Street, Hot Springs, NC 28743) on Sun. 7/19- time TBD, relax in healing waters of hot mineral springs. $20.
 
Appalachian Trail Hike- 1.6 mile scenic hike (138 Silvermine Rd, Hot Springs, NC 28743) on Sun. 7/19- time TBD, meet at trailhead for Lover's Leap hiking trail (free).
