Join us for a focused, rural clay retreat designed to slow the pace and deepen attention.

Over two days, you’ll work with hand-building techniques to create a ceramic vessel, exploring form, texture, and surface through observation and making. This retreat prioritises process over production and offers space for thoughtful, supported work.

This is not a fast-paced class. It is a small-group creative experience shaped by material, place, and time.

10am-4pm

Day One - Observe & Explore

We begin with a guided observation session inspired by the surrounding environment. This may include a short outdoor walk or an indoor “looking closely” session using natural objects, magnification, and texture exploration (weather dependent). In the studio, you’ll explore pinch and coil building techniques, test surface ideas, and begin designing your final vessel.

Day Two - Build & Refine
Sarah Carr
Day two focuses on building your final form and developing surface using slip application and sgraffito carving. You’ll be supported to translate observed textures and rhythms into your clay work, working slowly and intentionally. Finished pieces will be dried, fired, and returned or collected after the retreat.
