The Horicon Historical Society is excited to welcome schools and homeschooling families to our 2026 Horicon Living History Days School Day! This special day offers a rich, hands‑on learning experience designed to bring history to life for students of all ages.
What to Expect
Re‑enactors from a variety of eras will engage students with demonstrations, stories, and hands‑on activities using authentic tools and period clothing.
In 2025, we hosted approximately 55 reenactors and demonstrators, including:
• 	Blacksmithing
• 	Candle making
• 	Fur traders
• 	Wigwams
• 	Old‑fashioned toys
• 	Antique farm equipment
• 	French & Indian War
• 	Civil War
• 	World War I & II
• 	And more
Students also enjoyed trading posts and free wagon rides provided by the Dodge County Antique Power Club. We anticipate a similarly exciting lineup this year, with some demonstrations offering optional small participation fees.
Start Times — Please Read
⏰ Start times are staggered every 15 minutes beginning at 9:00 AM, and must be reserved in advance.
These time slots fill quickly each year, and reserving ahead ensures smooth parking, safe student flow, and a better experience for everyone.
Arrival & Check‑In
Upon arrival, groups will check in and receive a map and handout. You may walk to the event area or ride the tractor‑pulled wagons into the park.
For Schools
Schools may break into smaller teacher‑ or chaperone‑led groups to explore demonstrations at their own pace. Adequate supervision is essential to ensure a smooth and safe experience.
For Homeschool Families
Families are welcome to move through the event at whatever pace is most comfortable for them.
Cost
💲 $2.00 per person (students, teachers, and chaperones)
Children 5 and under are free.
Lunch
Schools and families are encouraged to bring bag lunches to enjoy in the park.
