Moderate.About this EventAbout this walkThese weekday walks take place regularly throughout the Peak District and are designed to help women build confidence in the outdoors while discovering some of the area's most beautiful landscapes, fascinating history and hidden gems.We'll set off before dawn with head torches, making our way to the top of the dramatic limestone gorge of Winnats Pass, where we'll (hopefully!) be rewarded with one of the Peak District's most spectacular sunrises. As the first rays of sunlight illuminate the Hope Valley, we'll pause to soak up the views before continuing along the top of the gorge and descending into the picturesque village of Castleton.From here, we'll uncover the fascinating stories behind one of Britain's oldest lead mining landscapes before climbing steadily onto the Great Ridge via Hollins Cross, where we'll enjoy breathtaking views across both the White Peak and Dark Peak in the beautiful early morning light.Our adventure finishes with the summit of Mam Tor, where we'll stand in the footsteps of Iron Age settlers and discover the rich history of this famous Peak District hill.This walk is classed as Moderate due to its sustained climb to Mam Tor, uneven paths and exposed ridge walking. TerrainA mixture of well-made hill paths, grassy tracks, stone pitching and uneven limestone trails. The route includes a sustained climb to Mam Tor, exposed ridge walking and a descent beneath the limestone cliffs of Winnats Pass.Although relatively short, the early start and exposed nature of the route make suitable clothing and sturdy walking boots essential.────────────────────────────────────────? ToiletsPublic toilets are available in Castleton midway through the walk (not guarenteed to be open at the time).If you need to go whilst we're out walking, I'll happily point out discreet 'wild wee' spots!────────────────────────────────────────❤️ SafetyThe aim of every Peak Outdoor Community walk is to create a welcoming, relaxed and enjoyable experience. We walk at a comfortable pace with plenty of opportunities to stop, chat, take photographs and learn about the landscape.As with all outdoor activities, there are inherent risks. Participants are responsible for ensuring they are fit enough for the walk and should let us know about any relevant medical conditions before attending.All participants must complete a Medical & Disclaimer Form at least 24 hours before the event.All walks are led by qualified Mountain Leaders with Outdoor First Aid qualifications.────────────────────────────────────────?
