Welcome to Freshwalks. This classic hike event is part of our own vibrant business community programme and everyone is welcome to join us for a day of hiking and networking in the great outdoors. Feel free to come alone - most Freshwalkers do - and you'll be warmly welcomed or invite a colleague or client along for company.
Route description
Starting at the Fairholmes Visitor Centre, this rewarding route follows the peaceful south-eastern shoreline of Ladybower Reservoir, where wooded slopes and open water frame the site of the lost villages of Derwent and Ashopton. The path then climbs steadily onto the moor, leading you past the iconic Salt Cellar rock formation and up to the broad, wind-sculpted heights of Derwent Edge. Turning north, the trail visits the trig point at Back Tor before continuing to the distinctive summit of Lost Lad, finally descending along clear tracks back to Fairholmes.
