If you are looking for something soothing, beautiful, and uplifting in these terrible times, you need to be at Headquarters on Friday, February 27, 2026.

We've got, as one dear friend calls it, "a real beauty" to show y'all--Buena Vista Social Club.

Not exactly a concert film, not quite a documentary, it's a celebration of some of the last exponents of Cuban son--a 19th-century, rural musical tradition that remains remarkably fresh and moving today.

It's chock full of shots of Old Havana, as well as glimpses of the lives of the musicians--many of them then in their 80s and 90s-- who kept the tradition alive, despite all the changes that Cuba has endured.

We can thank the American musician Ry Cooder for traveling there to search for and bring these grand players back to prominence by recording some terrific albums with them.

And we can thank German film maker Wim Wenders for following Ry back to Havana to capture their stories and music, and document their concerts at Carnegie Hall and around the world.

Do join us at 5pm--we'll have three kinds of chili and all the fixings, some beer and wine and soft drinks in the fridge (or you can bring your own), and some very nice, Latin warm-up music playing quietly on the box.

The movie rolls at 6:15pm.

Of course the food will be dee-lish, and we think our new movie screen and our stereo system look and sound great!

It's completely free, it's completely fun, and you'll leave with a warmed-up heart and soul.
