Viano: Quartet Haydn & Shostakovich

Winners of the prestigious 2025 Avery Fisher Career Grant First Prize at the 13th Banff International String Quartet Competition and Bowers Program Artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center 2024-27 the Viano Quartet has become one of the most exciting and in-demand quartets of the next generation. They have appeared on major stages from New York’s Lincoln Center to Berlin’s Konzerthaus and London’s Wigmore Hall captivating audiences worldwide with their dynamic performances. They have been praised for their “virtuosity visceral expression and rare unity of intention” (Boston Globe). 

Now the Viano Quartet brings their signature artistry and charisma to Hong Kong for a memorable evening of chamber music. The programme opens with Haydn’s elegant “Largo” Quartet. Wu Man’s Glimpses of Muqam Chebiyat follows drawing on vivid musical colors and textures inspired by Central Asian folk traditions and her cross-cultural imagination. The concert concludes with the drama and intensity of Shostakovich’s Ninth Quartet a riveting journey through turbulence and hope.
