At the same time, AI is advancing rapidly—shaping everyday life and showing significant potential to accelerate scientific discovery. With a background in both astrophysics and AI, I aim to offer a perspective on the growing synergy between these two fields, viewed through three key lenses. First, I will reflect on how ideas from physics have influenced the development of AI methods—focusing on flow-based generative models such as normalizing flows, diffusion models, and flow matching, which are closely related to physical simulation and dynamical system. Second, I will explore how AI—particularly generative models—can be applied to physics research, using star formation as a case study. These models open new avenues for addressing inverse problems: from enhancing the performance of observational tools like microscopes and telescopes, to enabling simulation-based inference that uncovers hidden physical properties from complex data. Finally, I will discuss an emerging paradigm in physics research in which explainable AI (XAI) plays a critical role. As AI becomes more integrated into scientific workflows, interpretability and trust become essential for driving insight and guiding theory development.
