- **Event Name**: Amnesty International x HK Community Connect: Refugees & Asylum Seekers
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 29 Apr, 2016 at 07:00 pm – Fri, 29 Apr, 2016 at 09:30 pm
- **Event Description**: Amnesty International Hong Kong and HK Community Connect are delighted to announce a collaborative event in April on the topic of asylum seekers and refugees in Hong Kong.

You don't need to look very far to hear about the daily problems facing refugees internationally. But what about Hong Kong? Although China has signed the 1951 UN Refugee Convention, it has not been extended to Hong Kong, making it one of the only wealthy, developed jurisdictions in the world not party to this human rights instrument.

Our event will bring in some of the heavyweight human rights defenders in the refugee sphere in Hong Kong to discuss how they operate despite the legal constraints. We are also delighted to announce that we will also have some speakers from Justice Centre's advocacy traineeship for refugees, Voices for Protection. An exclusive screening of "360 Syria Virtual Tour" will also be shown on the night to give greater insight of the war zone conditions that many refugees are currently fleeing.

**The refugee speaker(s) attending this event have serious concerns about their security, and that of their families, which is why they are seeking protection here. For their safety, we appreciate your cooperation in refraining from taking photos/videos.**

Please join us for what will definitely be an informative evening about Hong Kong's refugee issues and what we can do to help.
