Make It Yours: Ceramic Planter + Plant Workshop
Class Overview: Make It Yours
This workshop is a hands-on, beginner-friendly experience designed to welcome creativity and self-expression. Participants will customize a handmade ceramic planter that has been wheel-thrown in advance, allowing them to focus on adding their own personality rather than starting from scratch.
During the class, participants will:
• Mold and refine details on their planter
• Add surface designs, textures, and color choices
• Choose a baby plant to take home
• Learn basic plant care tips to help their plant thrive
All materials are provided, including the leather herd planter (clay term for the clay’s level of dryness), design tools, and glazes.
Important note:
While participants will fully complete the design and glazing of their planter during the class, planters will remain at the studio to properly dry and be fired. Finished planters will be available for pick-up at The Art Space Studio approximately 2–4 weeks after the class, depending on weather conditions and kiln scheduling. *Plant sold separately.
This class is open to ages 12 and up and does not require any prior pottery experience.
About the Instructor
Esmeralda Cardenas is a full-time Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Willow Path Collective, specializing in pregnancy and postpartum mental health; and a part-time potter who loves bringing people together through creativity. Pottery has become a meaningful way for her to create space for connection, reflection, and joy.
She is a mother to two teenage boys and a wife to her spouse of nearly 17 years. Outside of the studio, she enjoys caring for her plants, reading on her Kindle, listening to audiobooks, music, and spending time in nature.
Pottery found her four years ago, and she has been in love with it ever since. Creating functional pieces that are meant to be used, lived with, and enjoyed is one of her greatest joys, and she is grateful to share that experience with others through these workshops.
