Join us November 8th, 2025 to learn about Homewood's beneficial native trees and how they can improve our ecosystem in so many ways. We can work together to make a difference one tree at a time.Participants will have a chance to hear from local tree experts, talk with members of the Homewood Environmental Commission and other groups tabling the event and to grab some tree swag while enjoying fall weather, Frothy Monkey coffee and treats!A Native tree will be given to participants (one per address please!)upon completion of the workshop . It's absolutely free!!!Please note:1) Register for ONE Tree per Homewood property, in-person attendance is required.2) Tree selection will take place during online registration - varieties available on a first-come, first-served basis. There three size options: 15 gallon, 7 gallon and 5 gallon***** Please be aware that a 15 Gallon tree is a large container that is about 2.5 feet across and 2.5 ft. deep. This does not include the height of tree. This varies with each species.3)Choosing which tree requires you to do your homework.First, choose the location at your residence and then pay attention to the amount of sun, rain and soil type to help you determine which tree will best fit the growing conditions.Also consider that canopy trees need full sun and lots of space (no utility lines above) and understory trees need to have shade from taller trees in order to do well.Most of the trees are larger than ones that are seen at local home improvement stores. In the past, this has surprised some homeowners. You may need a truck or trailer to transport. There are a variety of different size container4) Consider your ability to care for your tree for the foreseeable future (one year or so of pampering then consistent care to watch for any issues)This is a family-friendly event.
