# Event Details

- **Event Name**: The Art of Awe: a creative guided walk with GeoMôn
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 12 Jul, 2026 at 02:00 pm – Sun, 12 Jul, 2026 at 05:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Join us for an immersive wander through landscapes layered in deep time. You will be guided to connect creatively with the geology and local heritage as we follow the coastal path from Porth Amlwch to the historic holy well, Ffynnon Eilian. Our leisurely pace with regular stops will give us the time and space to observe and experience our surroundings.

Trustee of GeoMôn and geologist Maia Whomsley-Walker will share the story of how time and geological forces have shaped the land around us, as well as what it means to think and see geologically. Artist and Eco-Therapist Caroline Schofield from Guided by Nature will guide us in connecting with our environment and the elements through our senses. You will receive artistic prompts and ideas about how to make expressive field notes, letting the rhythm of the earth guide your hand to make unfiltered marks on paper. You do not need to be an artist, but you will need to bring your own sketch book plus a few basic art materials of your choice (such as pencils, charcoal stick or pastels).

Please note that this event is run in English, although Maia speaks Welsh and would be happy to chat and translate as needed!

Event coordinators:

Caroline Schofield: Volunteer for GeoMôn, artist and eco-therapist who runs ‘Guided by Nature’ in North Wales.

Maia Whomsley-Walker: Director of GeoMôn and geologist specialising in fault and fracture systems.

Meeting point: The Watchhouse (GeoMôn's visitor centre) Porth Amlwch (///crackles.zoom.hiker)

Parking: Available at the harbourside or in Porth Amlwch (Maes Parcio Porthladd Amlwch). Parking fees apply.

Public Transport: Nearest major bus stop is at the Recreation Grounds in Amlwch, 15min walk away.

Distance: 4-5km

Duration: 3hrs

Accessibility and terrain:

The walk will take place along a section of Anglesey Coastal Path, so expect uneven trails, steps, some exposed sections, and minor altitude gains. The walk will thus require a reasonable level of fitness and mobility, but will be no more than three miles at a slow pace. The aim is to connect with place rather than cover distance at speed! You must wear the correct clothes for the weather on the day, plus sturdy shoes/boots suitable for walking on sand, cobbles, and uneven terrain. Please bring your own water/flask and snacks.

Please email maia@geomon.org.uk if you have any further questions, and we'd be happy to help.

Be sy'n digwydd?

Ymunwch â ni i grwydro drwy dirweddau sydd wedi'u haenu mewn amser dwfn. Byddwch yn cael eich tywys i gysylltu'n greadigol gyda'r ddaeareg a'r dreftadaeth leol wrth i ni ddilyn y llwybr arfordirol o Borth Amlwch i'r ffynnon sanctaidd hanesyddol, Ffynnon Eilian. Bydd ein cyflymder hamddenol gydag arosfannau rheolaidd yn rhoi'r amser a'r lle inni arsylwi a phrofi ein hamgylchedd.

Bydd ymddiriedolwr GeoMôn a'r daearegwr Maia Whomsley-Walker yn rhannu'r stori am sut mae amser a grymoedd daearegol wedi llunio'r tir o'n cwmpas, yn ogystal â beth mae'n ei olygu i feddwl a gweld yn ddaearegol. Bydd yr artist ac Eco-Therapydd Caroline Schofield o Guided by Nature yn ein tywys i gysylltu â'n hamgylchedd a'r elfennau trwy ein synhwyrau. Byddwch yn derbyn awgrymiadau a syniadau artistig ynghylch sut i wneud nodiadau maes mynegiannol, gan adael i rythm y ddaear arwain eich llaw i wneud marciau heb eu hidlo ar bapur. Nid oes angen i chi fod yn artist, ond bydd angen i chi ddod â'ch llyfr braslunio eich hun ynghyd ag ychydig o ddeunyddiau celf sylfaenol o'ch dewis (fel pensiliau, ffon siarcol neu basteli).

Noder bod y digwyddiad hwn yn cael ei gynnal yn Saesneg, er bod Maia yn siarad Cymraeg a byddai'n hapus i sgwrsio a chyfieithu yn ôl yr angen!

Cydlynwyr y digwyddiad:

Caroline Schofield: Gwirfoddolwr i GeoMôn, artist ac eco-therapydd sy'n rhedeg ‘Guided by Nature’ yng Ngogledd Cymru.

Maia Whomsley-Walker: Cyfarwyddwr GeoMôn a daearegwr sy'n arbenigo mewn systemau ffawt a chraciau.

Man cyfarfod: Y Tŷ Gwylio (canolfan ymwelwyr GeoMôn) Porth Amlwch (///crackles.zoom.hiker)
Parcio: Ar gael wrth ochr yr harbwr neu ym Mhorth Amlwch (Maes Parcio Porth Amlwch). Codir ffioedd parcio.
Trafnidiaeth Gyhoeddus: Mae'r safle bws mawr agosaf ym Maes Hamdden Amlwch, 15 munud cerdded i ffwrdd.
Pellter: 4-5km
Hyd: 3 awr

Hygyrchedd a thirwedd:
Bydd y daith gerdded yn digwydd ar hyd rhan o Lwybr Arfordirol Ynys Môn, felly disgwyliwch lwybrau anwastad, grisiau, rhai rhannau agored, ac enillion bach o uchder. Felly bydd y daith gerdded yn gofyn am lefel resymol o ffitrwydd a symudedd, ond ni fydd yn fwy na thair milltir ar gyflymder araf. Y nod yw cysylltu â'r lle yn hytrach na chwrdd pellter ar gyflymder! Rhaid i chi wisgo'r dillad cywir ar gyfer y tywydd ar y diwrnod, ynghyd ag esgidiau/bŵts cadarn sy'n addas ar gyfer cerdded ar dywod, coblau, a thirwedd anwastad. Dewch â'ch dŵr/fflasg a byrbrydau eich hun.
