- **Event Name**: Day of Remembrance
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 11 Sep, 2026 at 08:00 am – Fri, 11 Sep, 2026 at 03:00 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: 343 NEVER FORGOTTEN

On September 11, 2026, we hope to bring our community together to honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while rescuing others at the World Trade Center.

Our vision is simple, but powerful.

Following the Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem performed by the Holly High School Band, the American flag will be lowered to half-staff and a moment of silence will be observed. We will then read the name of every one of the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters.

As each name is read, an American flag personalized with that firefighter’s name will be planted in their honor. When the final name is spoken, 343 American flags will stand together as a visible reminder of the courage, service, and sacrifice we promised never to forget.

This event is open to EVERYONE in our community.
We want families, friends, neighbors, veterans, first responders, students, local businesses, community organizations, and residents of all ages to join us. You do not need to be a firefighter or have a connection to the fire service to participate. This is Holly's opportunity to remember together as one community.

Following the remembrance ceremony, we invite everyone to stay for family-friendly activities and community fellowship. Families will have the opportunity to meet local firefighters and emergency personnel, learn about emergency preparedness, see fire apparatus and equipment, receive health screenings, visit informational booths, enjoy refreshments from local food vendors, and participate in activities for the whole family.

While the ceremony itself will remain respectful and solemn, what follows will give our community an opportunity to come together, spend time with our first responders, and create a positive experience for the next generation.

We are incredibly grateful for the community partners already stepping forward to support this effort, including Henry Ford Hospital, Michigan Laser Engraving, Oakland County Health Division, 3D Eatery Food Truck, SERVPRO, Michigan Association of Fire Fighters, Front Line Strong, Tri-County Times, Versiti, and WOTA.

And we are proud that no taxpayer funding is being requested. The event is being made possible through sponsorships, donations, volunteers, and community partnerships.

Twenty-five years ago, 343 firefighters ran toward danger while thousands were running away.

On September 11, we want Holly to stand together and show that an entire generation may have been born since that day—but we have not forgotten.

343 names. 343 flags. One community remembering together.

🇺🇸 343 NEVER FORGOTTEN 🇺🇸

Everyone is welcome. Bring your family, bring your neighbors, and join us as Holly remembers, honors, and comes together as a community.

More information about the September 11 ceremony, family activities, and opportunities to participate will be shared as plans continue to develop.
