- **Event Description**: In this hands-on workshop led by Homestead Manager Ali Farquhar, you’ll learn how to felt soft, local wool around a bar of soap, creating a beautiful, long-lasting felted soap that gently exfoliates as it cleans. Along the way, you’ll discover how felting connects fiber, water, and motion, and how native plants can be used to naturally dye wool.

If the weather cooperates, we’ll take our crafting outdoors, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the season. The experience wraps up with a special meet-and-greet with our woolly residents—Bramble, Merribelle, and Skye—whose fleece made it all possible. 

**Felted soap bars are, simply put, a bar of soap wrapped in wool roving, then felted, creating a built-in, durable washcloth that gently exfoliates, lathers directly through the wool, and eliminates the need for a washcloth or loofah. The antimicrobial wool provides a non-slip, long-lasting, and eco-friendly alternative to traditional soap, which shrinks down with the bar and can be reused as a small scrubby.

Zero Waste: As the soap is used, the wool shrinks around it; when the soap is finished, the remaining felted pouch is biodegradable.
