- **Event Description**: Join mycologist, Jonathan Kranz, on a woodland walk-and-talk to explore the joys and hazards of the fungus among us. You'll have the opportunity to learn about mushrooms, their diversity, and how to identify safe edible varieties while being cautious about potentially toxic ones. It's a great opportunity for nature enthusiasts, aspiring mycologists, or anyone interested in learning more about the fascinating world of mushrooms.

Participants can expect to gain knowledge about:
Edible Mushrooms: Learning about safe-to-eat mushrooms, including common varieties that can be found in the region.
Toxic Mushrooms: Understanding the dangers associated with toxic mushrooms and how to recognize them to avoid accidental ingestion.
Safe Handling: Techniques for safely picking and handling mushrooms to prevent any adverse reactions or contamination.
Identification Skills: Developing the ability to identify different types of mushrooms based on their characteristics and features.
Ecological Role: Exploring the ecological significance of mushrooms and their importance in various habitats.

Note: What we find depends on what’s out there, weather and climate permitting. Please take common sense precautions against insects (e.g., mosquitoes and ticks) and sunburn.
