Meet at Wyncroft St.About this EventJoin us on the morning of Tuesday April 14th for a different kind of guided Whites Hill walk. Beginning at the Wyncroft Street Park entrance [see map] we will enter the Reserve using the She-oak Track. We’ll pass through the patch of Notophyll dry rainforest that contains some of Reserve’s rare plants, cross the headwaters of Salvin Creek, check out Whites Hill’s patch of grass trees, while en route to the overlook at Pine Mountain – the second tallest hill in the Reserve.Overlooking the Quarry, we should have a great view of nearby Belmont Hills, Mount Petrie & Mount Cotton and, if the day is clear, we may even catch a glimpse of Tamborine Mountain about 50 km to the south. From a safe distance, we will identify some of the recently treated fire ant nests before we retracing our steps back down the heights via the newly installed steps. All told, the walk including our tea, should take about two (2) hours. And while we can never guarantee spotting a koala or two, we will have an A-grade spotter with us!NOTE: The route up to the top of Pine Mountain is steep, but we will take our time. The return trip will be via the recently installed steps.WHAT TO BRING: a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, stout footwear and binoculars - if have them.PARKING: Wyncroft Street widens near the Reserve entrance, allowing for parking along the roadside.IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE YOU REGISTERUnder 16's to have guardian present and supervisingThis is an outdoor event in a bushland environmentPlease read the safety information in the confirmation email carefullyWe do not accept bookings for more than 5 people.
