Rascality on the Rig is a classic melodrama set in Southeast New Mexico, filled with exaggerated heroes, dastardly villains, mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and oil-field chaos. The plot centers on Terence Trueblue, who returns home to clear his father's tarnished name by proving there is oil in Southeast New Mexico; while the villain, Lester Leasehold, schemes to steal land, sabotage drilling, and force the heroine Patience Plugback into marriage.
