milaythina* is the palawa word for ‘country’. Our next OBSCURA concert at the Odeon Theatre, explores music of spirit, story and place. 
It's headlined by didjeridu virtuoso William Barton performing his own music along with Ross Edwards’ Tyalgum Mantras. Also on the program, music by Peter Sculthorpe, Brett Dean and Lisa Cheney. Conducted by Marko Letonja and in addition to the TSO, includes the TSO Chorus.

The artwork for this concert is by Tasmanian Aboriginal mixed media artist Caleb Nichols - Mansell. Entitled 'vibrations', the artwork, in Caleb's own words, is "multifaceted and layered, much like our culture and knowledges....these have sustained our cultural practices and connections since time began."
The layers in the artwork also nod to the waterways of our island and the "layers of history that exist within us and the landscapes we live on."
