It is widely reported to have been built around 1853. Ownership have been said in re-tellings that the Burton family bought it in 1861, the McMahon family (the road is named after them), and variety of later owners. The household that brought the place to wide attention was the DANDY FAMILY, who moved in around 1970 and left by 1974. Much of the haunting narrative originates in Clara Dandy's book Echoes of a Haunting. Poltergeist/physical disturbance:Reports include objects moving by themselves, doors slamming, picture frames tilting, and hearing knocks and voices.Physical afflictions:According to the Dandy family, family members (children especially) wake up with unexplained marks or burns and people experiencing sudden nausea,Strange sounds:People have reported to have heard distant choir-like or chanting sounds have been heard coming from the surrounding woods at night.Unusual smells/insect swarms:There have been reports of an overpowering perfume scent, sudden fly swarms in a room, and the oil/heat propane system behaving oddly.THE CLERGY INVOLVEMENT:Fr.
