# Event Details

- **Event Name**: Sarah Jackson: Individuation Made Visible: The Late Landscapes of Edvard Munch
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 01 Feb, 2026 at 01:00 pm
- **Event Description**: How did artist Edvard Munch, whose most famous painting “The Scream” has been turned into a frequently-used emoji signifying anxiety, come to paint a glorious image of the sun twenty years later? In this presentation, we will look at a sequence of Munch’s paintings, prints, and drawings that reveal how the beneficial effects of country life — with a daily practice of close observation of Nature— gradually brought about healing and a return to wholeness.

Presenter Sarah Jackson is a licensed Jungian psychoanalyst, visual artist, and writer who has lived and practiced in the Berkshires for thirty-five years. Sarah recently gave a version of this talk in Zurich at the 23rd International Congress of Analytic Psychology. After getting an MFA in painting, Sarah went on to receive an MA in Archetypal Psychology, which gave her the opportunity to train and supervise with Tom Moore and James Hillman. Sarah is an adjunct faculty member and supervisor at the C. G. Jung Institute of New York. Although primarily a painter, she is currently making ceramics. She posts writing on dreams, images and art on her Substack blog, “Life is But a Dream.”
