This 2.5-mile guided history hike will include the East and West Forks of the Eno, the confluence where the main stem of the Eno River begins. Learn about the history of the land and the people who inhabited it, from Indigenous people to the Sheppard family who owned the mill, of which remnants can still be seen today. We will discuss our latest findings about the mill, which we just learned more about this year!
Meet at the pavilion beside the parking lot. This hike will take approximately two hours (sometimes less, sometimes more). Please feel free to bring water and snacks. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are under your control and on a 6-foot leash. Restrooms are available on-site.

From Hillsborough take Hwy 86 North away from town 1.6 miles from US70. Turn left on Coleman Loop 1.1 miles. Turn left on Highland Farm Rd 2.4 miles. The Confluence is on the left. There is a large sign and a gravel driveway. From northern Orange County take Hwy 86 south after passing Walnut Grove Church Rd take the first right on Kenion Rd 1.7 miles. Turn right on Highland Farm Rd 0.6 miles. The Confluence is on the left. There is a large sign and a gravel driveway.
