It's always a pleasure to set the table in the Sonoran Desert, where the landscape itself becomes part of the experience, and every detail is designed to celebrate the spirit of the Southwest.
This year we're returning to Steadfast Farm in Mesa, AZ, an urban oasis tucked into the fabric of the city. Steadfast is a living, breathing farm where rows of vegetables, fruit trees, flowers, and chickens thrive against the desert backdrop. This marks our fourth time gathering here, and our first visit since 2018, a reunion years in the making. There’s something deeply meaningful about coming back to a place that has grown alongside us, shaped by the same belief in the power of the land to bring people together.
Chef Lawrence “LT” Smith of Chilte, recently named one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs of 2024 and 2025 James Beard semifinalist, is set to return to the field kitchen. LT’s bold, modern approach to Mexican cuisine draws on his Southern upbringing, Sinaloan heritage, and global perspective.
