Join us for this point to point fifteenish mile hike that will cover all sorts of weird back streets and parks between these two locations.
We'll meet at parking lot A at Sandy Hook, just after the entrance.
After meeting, we will shuttle with as few vehicles as possible to our start point.
From here, we will walk from Red Bank Station to the north, and view the historic former site of the New Jersey Southern Railroad bridge, where it used to cross the Navesink River.
From there, we will walk back streets and lots parallel with the former New York and Long Branch Railraod to the Little Silver Creekside Adventure Trail.
We will do this short trail, then head through back streets, a path through a school area, then a cemetery, then Sickles Park where we'll visit a 1665 homestead.
We will go by another school with short road walks between, then hike Fair Haven Natural Area as well as Meadow Ridge Park.
After these, we have to walk two miles of back streets to Victory Park, then cut across the Navesink River on the new walkway over the Oceanic Bridge!
Once on the other side of Oceanic Bridge, we head up to Locust Point and into Hartshorne Woods. We'll take a direct trail through some of this, and then a short road walk to the Twin Lights.
From the Twin Lights, we descend over a school property and some back streets to the new Navesink Bridge. It has a splendid walkway with commanding views, and we'll follow this walkway right back to where we met at Sandy Hook.
