You are welcome to bring a yoga mat, blanket(s), pillows, and any other items that will help you be comfortable during the hour!WHERE TO SITThe sound travels well throughout the entire sanctuary, but volume will vary depending on how far you are from the instruments. For a fully immersive experience, please arrive early and plan to sit or lie on a mat inside the chancel, which is where the sound will be concentrated. This is the area where the instruments will be directed towards.THE INSTRUMENTSFor this event I will be using 7 crystal bowls tuned to 432Hz. This frequency produces a more harmonious tone and natural resonance with the human body. Additional instruments include gongs, rainstick, tongue drum, guitar and voice, and various chimes.THE SCIENCEScience shows that sound and vibration can directly influence the parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system works in opposition to our sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the "fight or flight" response.Engaging the parasympathetic nervous system leads to a relaxation response by stimulating the body's natural "rest and digest" functions through the vibrations resonating within the body, effectively calming the nervous system when exposed to specific frequencies or sounds.ABOUTBen is a multi-instrumental sound practitioner and student, exploring the intersections of science, spirit and energy to heal and bring our bodies into a natural state of ease and wellbeing.
