They DO NOT need their own ticket.The class will:Support you to recognise the importance of breastfeeding and early relationships for the health and wellbeing of your baby.Support you and your baby to initiate a close relationship and feeding soon after birth.Enable you to get breastfeeding off to a good start.Support you to make informed decisions regarding the introduction of food or fluids other than breastmilk.Support parents to have a close and loving relationship with their baby.Learning outcomes for this session:To understand some of the key differences between breastmilk and formula milk.To explore personal feelings around feeding method, and provide a forum to discuss preconceived ideas.To appreciate the role of oxytocin in brain development and relationship building.To consider when hand expressing may be a useful tool.To appreciate the physiological and psychological impact of uninterrupted skin-to-skin.To understand which sleeping practices aid responsiveness and promote safety.
