- **Event Description**: Professor Lisa Wyld will help explain why hospitality careers are valued differently in different societies and parts of the world.About this EventWe hope you will join us as we continue the series with Professor Lisa Wyld as she gives her Inaugural lecture on Global Variations in Hospitality Careers: A Bourdieuian Perspective.Professor Lisa Wyld will be examining the interplay of habitus, capital, and field, gaining a deeper understanding of how social structures, individual dispositions, and institutional practices shape career trajectories in the hospitality industry and helps explain why hospitality careers are valued differently in different societies and parts of the world.Professor Lisa Wyld is the Associate Dean (Education) in the College of Leadership and Innovation. She is also the Honorary Secretary for the Council for Hospitality Management Education and track chair for Teaching, Learning and Assessment for their scientific committee for their annual research conference, a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality, a Principal Fellow of AdvanceHE and co-founded Hospitality and Universities United (HUU), an initiative with the goal of bringing together universities, students and the hospitality industry to ‘bridge the gap’ between what the students learn in an academic environment, their ambitions and the needs and future aspirations of the students and the industry.Inaugural lectures are celebration of our academics’ outstanding research excellence and an achievement of contributions to their field of research. These celebratory events will enable the University to come together to give conferment to academics who have achieved the accolade of Professorship and Associate Professorship.This is your chance to ask questions and delve deeper into the topics discussed.
