MARCH 10 POETRY HICKORY TO FEATURE "KAKALAK" READERS
The March 10 Poetry Hickory will feature readers from the "Kakalak" 2025 anthology.
"Kakalak" is an exciting annual anthology of mostly North and South Carolina poets and visual artists published by Moonshine Review Press out of Harrisburg, NC. This year’s Kakalak was put together by editors Anne Kaylor, Kim Blum-Hyclak, Julie Ann Cook, and Angelo Geter.
The reading will start at 6:15 at Taste Full Beans in downtown Hickory, and the featured writers will be followed by an Open Mic.
Featured readers will include:
Scott Owens, Hickory Poet Laureate, author of 25 books of poetry, founder of Poetry Hickory, and Lenoir Rhyne professor.
Gary Powell, Pushcart Nominee from Cornelius, NC, and author of 3 collections of poetry.
Nancy Martin Young, Lake Lure, NC, author of poetry, short stories and romance novels.
Caroline Kane Kenna, Huntersville, NC, author of “Keep Your Damn Seat,” and former Charlotte Writers Club president.
Maeve Fox, Hickory, NC, author of “Letting Go of Me.”
Narya Rose Deckard, Valdese, NC, author of “Wolfcraft,” professor at Lenoir Rhyne University.
Les Brown, Troutman, NC, Pushcart Nominee, author of “Iron Bridge Sunday.”
Mary Lautzenhiser Bellon, Rock Hill, SC, published poet and spiritual director, retired clergywoman and psychotherapist.
Randy Lee White, Lowell, NC, author of “Scanning Past Horizons.”
