POET & JOURNALIST FEATURED AT DECEMBER 9 POETRY HICKORY
Award-winning poet and journalist, Pat Riviere-Seel will be the featured reader at Poetry Hickory on December 9. The event will be held at Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse in downtown Hickory and begins at 6:15. The feature reader will be followed by an Open Mic. Attendance is free and open to the public. Pat Riviere-Seel’s most recent book is a collection of personal essays and poems, "Because I Did Not Drown." She is the author of four poetry collections, including "The Serial Killer’s Daughter," winner of the Roanoke-Chowan Award.
A former newspaper journalist, publicist, editor, and lobbyist, Riviere-Seel has been fortunate to make a living as a writer for most of her life. She taught for 15 years in the UNC-Asheville’s Great Smokies Writing Program and served two years as the North Carolina Poetry Society’s Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet for the state’s western region.
Riviere-Seel's poems have been widely published in numerous literary journals and anthologies, and she once served as Poet in Residence at the North Carolina Zoo. She serves on the board of directors for the Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities and co-chairs the Literary Committee.
