Get into the Swing of Summer at Prairiewoods (in person)

Thursday, July 17, 6–7:30 p.m. U.S. Central Time

Join a group effort to touch grass and explore Prairiewoods’ grounds during a walk featuring our many swings and benches. You’ll experience the beauty and peace of the land at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) and view several great spots for contemplation for when you return on your own. This will be an outdoor program; participants must be able to walk over uneven terrain. Facilitator Christine Kirpes, Prairiewoods’ Garden Coordinator, has managed the Green Prairie Garden at Prairiewoods for over a decade on behalf of Prairiewoods and Metro Catholic Outreach. After earning two life science degrees, she ended up in Cedar Rapids in the early ‘90s. She became involved with Indian Creek Nature Center, volunteering as a naturalist off and on for 20 years. She enjoys hiking and taking advantage of various environmental and spiritual programs at Prairiewoods. She, her husband and their three adult children love getting outside, especially visiting national parks together. Christine’s interests also include tending to her collection of houseplants, gardening, reading fiction, dancing, visiting new places, and almost any activity in or around water. The cost is $10.
