- **Event Description**: We are hosting a beginners powerlifting competition here in Hexham where we would love to see lots of lovely people sign up and give this a go, whether you've only recently started lifting or bern training a while. The only prerequisite is that this is your first or second ever competition. 
We will run close to IPF rules, with experienced powerlifters on hand to help and support you on the day. 

I am fundraising for my trip to represent England at the Commonwealth Championships in Canada this September and what better way to do that than by putting on this competition to help other people start their powerlifting journey. Fun fact, a competition just like this one at the same gym was where I started 4 years ago. 

What you can expect on the day

8-9am Weigh in (placing are based on DOTS which uses bodyweight and gender to calculate score relative to weight lifted on the day). Please dont let this bit put you off! 

9.15am Technical briefing. Here we explain what's expected, how the day will run & the rules of each lift

10am Lift off. This is where the fun starts. 

The day will conclude with 1st, 2nd 3rd placings for men and women
