We are delighted to be partnering with the wonderful Tina from Jaya Dance for this interactive Bollywood workshop. Join us for an uplifting day, while supporting people affected by breast cancer.
Suitable for all abilities, whether you’re an experienced dancer or stepping onto the dance floor for the first time, you’ll be guided through accessible choreography, upbeat music and a feel good routine designed to bring plenty of smiles.
Come along ready to have fun, try something new and immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of Bollywood dance!
The event will include:
A short talk on the origins of the workshop dance, with bindis provided for all participants
Learning a Bollywood and Bhangra routine followed by a group performance
Bollywood dancing is the commercial name for modern Indian dance made popular by ‘Jai Ho’ from Slumdog Millionaire. The unique style of dance has its roots in classical and folk dance with the occasional Latino and Arabic influence.
A cake sale will be held at the end of the event so you can stock up on goodies once the dancing is finished!
We recommend:
Dressing in vibrant colours
Wearing something comfortable to dance in
Wearing light slippers or bare feet
Bringing water
Time to wear those vibrant colours and be transported into the lively movement and expressive energy that is Bollywood.
We hope you can join us!
