You are responsible for your own safety and preparedness. ⸻ ? Trip Overview: We’ll be paddling from Pines Point National Forest Campground down to Fruitvale Rd, through the Manistee National Forest. This is a remote, scenic stretch with minimal private property, abundant wildlife, and a true wilderness feel. Expect: • Fast, steady current over mostly sandy bottom • Average depth under 3 ft, with occasional deep holes (8+ ft) • Technical sections with tight turns, strainers, and downed wood • Possible portages (“4-wheel yakin”) ⚠️ Not recommended for beginner kayakers The river splits multiple times along this route—navigation awareness is important.
