🌊 Trip Overview:
We’ll be paddling from Pines Point National Forest Campground down to Fruitvale Rd, through the Manistee National Forest. This is a remote, scenic stretch with minimal private property, abundant wildlife, and a true wilderness feel.

Expect:
• Fast, steady current over mostly sandy bottom
• Average depth under 3 ft, with occasional deep holes (8+ ft)
• Technical sections with tight turns, strainers, and downed wood
• Possible portages (“4-wheel yakin”)

⚠️ Not recommended for beginner kayakers

The river splits multiple times along this route—navigation awareness is important. There is little to no cell service, and very limited development along the river.

West on Fruitvale Rd to the bridge
