- **Event Description**: Im Jahr 2012 gründete Gerry McAvoy Band of Friends, nachdem er seine verlorene geglaubte Vinylsammlung wiederentdeckt hatte.  

Seine zwanzig jährige Zusammenarbeit mit Rory Gallagher ließ er nochmal beim Anhören der gemeinsamen Platten Revue passieren, als ihn der Entschluss packte, gemeinsam mit seinem Freund Ted McKenna, auf Tour zugehen.   

Im Jahr 2019 verstarb Ted , seitdem tritt die Band mit einem abwechslungsreichen Line-Up auf.  Bei der nächsten Tour bereichert auch der Schlagzeuger Brendan Oneill die Band wieder.  Von 1981 bis 1991 arbeitete er erfolgreich mit Rory an den  Alben Jinx / Defender / Fresh evidence zusammen. Zehnjahrelang tourte er mit Rory um die Welt und prägte dessen Sound entscheidend mit.
