Over the years the festival has continued to grow and evolve, bringing together an eclectic and engaging mix of speakers, authors, ideas and issues – and this year promises to be no exception. It’s an event especially close to the hearts of everyone at the club because it epitomises our tradition of engaging with the community through a range of edifying, educational and entertaining events. A thrilling line-up includes Saturday headline speaker Terry Chimes, original drummer with punk legends The Clash, talking about his autobiography and making a very special guest appearance on the drums with Clash tribute band Clash City Robbers, led by Hertford’s ‘Mr Music’, Kev Saunders, instigator and organiser of major Hertford musical events including The Kevolution, The Musical Mystery Tour and Rock at The Castle. Our Friday headliner is equally ‘FAB’ – it’s Dee Anderson, daughter of ‘Thunderbirds’ creator Gerry, talking about ‘Growing Up With Thunderbirds’. More Friday speakers include Hertford Folk Club’s Pat Crilly, local DJ legend Dave Crabtree, Pharmacist and high street business expert Steven Adjei, Horror/Ghost story novelist and social media guru Stephanie Mynard, and the welcome return of Darren Coffield with his latest book. On Saturday local tech entrepreneur Jonno Harris introduces CircleBe – an exciting new way for creative people to talk with their audience one to one – artist, author and publisher Pauline Hazelwood, soldier Shaun Pinner speaking via Zoom from the front-line in Ukraine and photographer Greg Brennan... With all this plus live music Friday evening from Pat Crilly, Peter Crossley and Mike Excell and on Saturday from ‘Clash City Robbers’ (formerly The Trash) featuring Terry Chimes and terrific, anthemic 90s alternative rock and indie covers from Allergy, and visits to Hertford’s historic landmarks, this year’s festival promises to be the most exciting yet!
