Reculver Towers Christmas Walk
Group Guided Walk
Overview:
Join us for our special Christmas Solstice walk—a scenic 10km circular route beginning near the dramatic ruins of Reculver Towers before following the King Charles III Coastal Path. This completely flat walk takes us along the shoreline with sweeping sea views, before looping back inland via the Rushbourne Sea Wall. With a mix of coastal air, wide horizons, and festive cheer, it’s the perfect way to mark the shortest day of the year.
Christmas hats, jumpers, and plenty of sparkle are very much welcomed!
Route Details:
Our journey begins near Reculver Towers, the striking twin-towered remains of a medieval church, set on the site of an ancient Roman fort overlooking the sea. From here, we’ll join the King Charles III Coastal Path, a scenic route that hugs the shoreline with uninterrupted views across Herne Bay and the Thames Estuary.
The path takes us along sea defences and open skies before we turn inland, looping back via the Rushbourne Sea Wall. This section of the route offers a different perspective of the landscape, with marshland and wide, open views that highlight the contrast between coast and countryside.
With its mix of history, coastline, and seasonal celebration, this walk is a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors on the Winter Solstice and head into Christmas with fresh air and festive spirit.
