Theatrecraft is excited to announce our read through and auditions for our spring 2026 production: Out of Order by Ray Cooney - a classic British farce bursting with quick-fire dialogue, physical comedy and gloriously tangled situations.

About the show:
When Richard Willey, a junior government minister, plans a secret evening with a typist from the opposition, he gets far more than he bargained for. A body appears halfway through the window of their London hotel suite, setting off a chain of frantic cover-ups, mistaken identities and increasingly desperate improvisations.
Doors slam, tempers fray and lies multiply in this award-winning comedy from Ray Cooney — the master of British farce. Expect pace, precision and plenty of laughter as chaos reigns in the corridors of power!
Cast of characters:
Richard Willey – Suave, successful junior minister; outwardly confident, inwardly panicked.
The Manager – Smooth, professional, keeps the hotel (barely) running.
Harold Cromwell (Waiter) – Nimble, witty servant with perfect comic timing.
Maria (Maid) – Italian, 50s, passionate and expressive.
Jane Worthington – Attractive but dizzy young woman from the opposition.
The Body – A very physical, non-speaking role with great comic potential.
George Pigden – Nervous but well-meaning; master of unintentional mayhem.
Ronnie Worthington – Jane’s jealous husband; fiery and impulsive.
Pamela Willey – Richard’s sophisticated, long-suffering wife.
Gladys Foster (Nurse) – Bossy, no-nonsense and surprisingly alluring.
