**Dear Friends, Families, and Patriots,**

Inspired by the remarkable story of Preston Sharp—a young hero who, at just 12 years old, launched the **Flags and Flowers for Veterans** movement after noticing forgotten graves at a cemetery—we invite you to join a heartfelt tribute right here in our community. Since 2016, Preston's grassroots initiative has honored over 100,000 fallen U.S. military heroes across all 50 states by placing American flags and fresh flowers on their graves, symbolizing patriotism, sacrifice, and enduring remembrance. As the grandson of a Vietnam veteran, Preston's simple act of kindness has sparked nationwide ceremonies on dates like Veterans Day, reminding us that one small gesture can unite us in gratitude.

This **Veterans Day weekend**, let's carry that spirit forward! You're cordially invited to participate in a **Flags and Flowers for Veterans Ceremony** at the **Hermiston Cemetery** in Hermiston, Oregon.

- **Location**: Hermiston Cemetery, 1111 N 1st Pl, Hermiston, OR 97838 (**Meet at the Veterans Memorial kiosk**)  

**What to Expect**:  
We'll gather for a short, meaningful program including the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence, and personal tributes to our local heroes. Together, we'll place small American flags and fresh flowers (carnations recommended for their symbolism of love and remembrance) on unmarked veteran graves. No experience needed—bring your family, friends, or Scout troop! Supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own flags or blooms to contribute.

This event is free and open to all ages. It's a beautiful way to teach the next generation about service and sacrifice, just as Preston did. Dress comfortably for outdoor weather, and let's make this a day of reflection and pride.
