Picnics, Oysters, Bubbly & Other Delicious Things – Happiness on the Lawn
Join us to celebrate the arrival of summer at our annual Garden Party on Saturday, 13 December 2025, from 10h00 to 17h00.
What's a garden party? For us, it's simple: a celebration of summer, outside, in our quad. Think live music drifting across the Lawn, wine or bubbly in hand, good food shared with good people, and the kind of lazy afternoon where time seems to slow down just enough.
*Mouthwatering things to eat on the Lawn*
Pre-Order Picnic Boxes (R575 for 2-4 people) feature wood-fired smoked snoek paté with apricot chutney, TKD pinchos skewers, handmade pork rillette, assorted local salami and ham, Anysbos Camembert, cumin boerenkaas, Klein River cheese, mini mosbolletjie loaf, lavash and rosemary crackers, cultured butter, and pickled pear.
The Kitchen Door's Sando Bar will offer mouthwatering options, including:
Breakfast option - Mosbolletjie bun with scrambled egg, bacon and tomato smoortjie
12-hour roast lamb shoulder with whipped white bean and tomato salsa
Charcoal-seared sirloin with Havarti, apple chutney and fresh greens
Mosbolletjie buttermilk fried chicken sando with house pickles and spiced mayo
Fire-cooked TKD chicken sosatie with tzatziki and homemade chutney
Pulled aubergine, tomato smoortjie, broken burrata and rocket sando
For the little ones: Mini kids' margarita pizzas, free-range, homemade chicken strips, chips, and soft-serve cones. Plus special "bindle bags" on a stick (R100) filled with chips, juice, and a sweet treat.
No Garden Party is complete without delectable Fresh oysters from Saldanha, care of the Oyster Lady, paired with Madame Lucy's MCC.
Guests can also meet us in the Tasting Room, where we will be opening some special (older) bottles and chatting about all things wine-related.
*Curated Vendors & Beautiful Things*
A specially curated small selection of vendors will be selling beautiful and delicious things throughout the day, including topiaries and plants, artisan cheeses from Kleinrivier Cheese, watercolour cards and stationery, take-home treats, Mantra Living's curated selection of gifts and homeware, and more – perfect for discovering unique gifts or treating yourself.
*Live Music and Family Fun*
The soundtrack to the day features entertaining performances by the Botrivier Marimba kids, while local musician CJ van den Bergh will be strumming his guitar.
For the young ones, activities include face painting, frog fishing, lawn games, jamming with the Botrivier Marimba kids, cookie decorating with Crazylicious Cookies, and – for the first time this year – an adventure-fuelled treasure hunt for kids aged 6 to 12.
