Photography workshop with Yasser Marte, East Oregonian Journalist and accomplished photographer:
This three-hour workshop introduces the fundamentals of photography, focusing on the three core camera functions: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. You’ll also explore a variety of compositional styles, including landscape, urban landscape, portraiture, sports, documentary/photojournalism, abstract, and more. To inspire your own work, we’ll share videos from contemporary photographers who demonstrate these techniques in their practice.
In the second half of the workshop, you’ll receive a hands-on assignment: head outside with your camera to capture images using compositional approaches such as the rule of thirds, geometric lines, shadows, negative space, fill the frame, and others. Afterward, participants will share their images with the group for a constructive review session. Together, we’ll discuss strengths, challenges, and creative approaches.
We’ll close the workshop with an open Q&A, giving you the chance to ask questions, address challenges, and gather additional tips to support your growth as a photographer.
