Born in Belgium, of Italian descent, Laura’s writing is inspired by her adored Adelaide home and its stories.Her first Historical Fiction novel, ‘Cremona House,’ was published in 2025: a deep, heart-warming exploration of the early years of Italian migration to Adelaide (1905-1950), told through the eyes of an ice-cream maker. Based on the lived experiences of six Adelaide Italian families, the book explores themes of love and loss, hope and disappointment, struggles to adapt and the energy it takes to forge a new life, far away from home.A New Adult novel, ‘Working it out,’ released in late 2025, tells the tale of the Italian sisterhood through a year in the life of two sets of sisters in their early twenties. With the matriarch Nonna Giulia’s advice, the cousins, who have grown up together in Mount Barker, have always done everything together. Facing important decisions about careers and significant relationships, they’ll work it out together, as always.Laura is also the author of the ‘Italian Glory Boxes of Love’ website, featuring the history of Italian wedding traditions and the stories of Italian migrant women to South Australia, with photos of their treasured glory box items.
