- **Event Description**: The global Italian Design Day, organised by the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is being celebrated for the tenth time this year. The theme of the event is “RE-DESIGN. Rigenerare spazi, oggetti, idee, relazioni” (RE-DESIGN. Regenerating spaces, objects, ideas and relationships).

The concept of regeneration — applicable both to urban planning and to the rethinking of objects, processes and social relationships — provides a framework for reflecting on how design and architecture influence the quality of our everyday living environments and, more broadly, the wellbeing of communities.

This year, the Italian Cultural Institute and the Embassy of Italy are organising the Italian Design Day lecture, under the patronage of and featuring a keynote address by Marco Sammicheli, one of the most respected curators of contemporary Italian design.

The event will also feature internationally renowned designer and CEO of the Paimio Sanatorium Foundation, Mirkku Kullberg, as well as Helsinki-based Italian CEO and architecture curator Daniele Belleri, former coordinator of the curatorial team of the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, who will serve as the panel moderator.

Participation

The lecture will take place on 9 March 2026 at 5 pm at the Architecture and Design Museum (Korkeavuorenkatu 23, 00130 Helsinki), in collaboration with the museum. The language of the lecture is English. The event is free of charge and open to all, subject to availability.
