- **Event Description**: (EN) Welcome to celebrate #Bloomsday together with the James Joyce Society of Sweden and Finland, the Embassy of Ireland in Finland and Rosebud Bookshop in Postitalo.

Bloomsday celebrates James Joyce’s epic tale Ulysses, which follows Leopold Bloom’s day and night of wandering through Dublin on 16th of June in 1904. Today, both in Ireland and around the world, Bloomsday is celebrated with readings, costume contests, re-enactments, talks and exhibitions. 

Bloomsday may begin with Joyce, but it’s the perfect moment to celebrate the full spectrum of Irish literary brilliance. Ireland has produced numerous renowned writers and poets including the likes of W.B. Yeats, Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde, Seamus Heaney, Edna O’Brien, Bram Stoker and Maeve Binchy, as well as contemporary writers such as Claire Keegan, Sally Rooney, Roddy Doyle and Colm Tóibín, and many more.

We are delighted to also participate in the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs #GlobalBookGiveaway by handing out free books of over 20 Irish writers at the event in Postitalo. Come and get to know Irish writers beyond Joyce! First come first served

(FI) Tervetuloa juhlimaan Bloomsdayta yhdessä Irlannin suurlähetystön ja The James Joyce Society of Sweden and Finlandin kanssa Postitalon Rosebud-kirjakauppaan! 

Bloomsdayta vietetään vuosittain 16. kesäkuuta, sillä Ulysses (Odysseus) kirjan tapahtumat sijoittuvat kyseiseen päivään vuonna 1904 Dublinissa. Päivää juhlistetaan ympäri maailmaa lukemalla romaania, keskustelemalla Joycen tuotannosta sekä nauttimalla irlantilaisesta kulttuurista.
