Helensburgh Parish Church - Colquhoun Square
This time there are two concertos, written a hundred years apart for very different forces but both very entertaining.
Bach’s concerto for oboe and violin, with soloists Catherine Smith and Tansy Hammarton, is a classic example of the baroque, while Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No 1, with Derek Clark, Director of Music in Helensburgh Parish Church, has all the tuneful flamboyance you would expect of a great romantic composer. 

Between them, the other work in the hour-long programme is Rossini’s Overture, The Italian Girl in  Algiers.

The Helensburgh Chamber Orchestra, led by Christine Sinclair and conducted by David Bruce, brings together professional and amateur players especially for these concerts.
The concert will last approximately one hour, entry by donation to Christian Aid (suggested £8 (£5 concession)). For further information, contact the church office 01436 676880
